About Czech Furniture Revival

Sharing the craft, one restoration at a time

Our Story

Czech Furniture Revival started as a personal project in 2024, born from a simple observation: while the Czech Republic has a world-class tradition of furniture restoration, very little of that knowledge was available in English. Workshop techniques passed down through generations of Bohemian and Moravian craftsmen remained largely undocumented outside Czech-language professional circles.

We set out to change that. Our team of contributors includes practicing restorers, conservation students and furniture historians based in Prague, Brno and several smaller towns across the country. Each article draws on real workshop experience and is reviewed for accuracy before publication.

This blog does not sell restoration services. It exists purely to inform, educate and connect people who care about preserving antique furniture. Whether you own a family heirloom that needs attention or simply find the craft fascinating, we hope you will find something useful here.

What We Cover

Our articles focus on practical, actionable information about furniture restoration in a Czech and Central European context. Typical topics include:

  • Restoration techniques for specific furniture periods and styles
  • Material guides covering traditional adhesives, finishes and hardware

  • Profiles of Czech restoration workshops and institutions
  • Advice on caring for antique furniture at home
